PPI Day at the Embassy

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesian in The Hague and Indonesian Students Association (PPI) in the Netherlands held PPI Day on Sunday, January 14th 2018, at Nusantara Hall, Indonesian Embassy.

This annual event is organized to introduce the current board members of PPI in the Netherlands and to present PPI program in 2018. Beside PPI Netherlands, there are 16 PPI Kota, representing 16 different cities with most Indonesian students across Netherlands.

PPI Day was attended by board members of PPI Netherlands and 16 PPI Kota, as well as staff members of the Embassy. Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, I Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja, opened this event at 13.00 o’clock. In his address, the Ambassador reminded the students to be more innovative. “These innovations are needed to face the global challenges, especially here in the Netherlands,” said the Ambassador.

Each PPI then presented different programs for the year 2018, encompassing different areas including seminars in their field of studies, culture performances, sports, as well as charity programs. During the brainstorming on programs, it is agreed that whenever possible, PPI activities should also include the participation of Dutch and other international students to foster people to people contacts between Indonesia and the Netherlands.

This event was also a tribute to Indonesian Attache of Education and Cultural Affairs, Prof. Bambang Hari Wibisono, who will end his tour of duty and assume a new position as Indonesian Permanent Delegation to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris.
