According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS), during the COVID-19 pandemic, Indonesia has exported 81 tons of garlic. Export are destined for Taiwan, Vietnam, South Korea, Singapore and Hongkong.
The government continues to encourage farmers to increase the production of garlic cultivation, so that high quality and export-worthy garlic continue to be produced.
In Indonesia, garlic usually come from Temanggung, Batang, Tegal, Brebes, and Sumbawa areas.
Indonesian garlic has stronger aroma than garlic from abroad, due to the abundant content of the Allicin compound. Therefore, the aroma of one clove is equivalent to 3-4 cloves of foreign products.
