Virtual Dance Challenge

REGISTRATION

  1. Introduction
    The Embassy of The Republic of Indonesia in The Hague challenges dancers in the Netherlands to participate on the Virtual Dance Challenge!
    A lot of things have been affected since Covid-19 Pandemic strucks. One of that many is the lack of dance activities.​ But that doesn't mean we can't dance anymore,  we need to adjust to the situation. That's why, we challe​nge you to dance virtually, on your own time and at your own place, based on the choreography that we create. Send your home video to us, who knows you will win the challenge. 

    Never learned Indonesian dance before? No worries... you are welcome to try and participate!

  2. Synopsis:
    • Dance name: Dharma Loka
      Story of the dance: About the colour of life. A life that we live in, a life that has many dimensional aspects, ups and downs. It describes on how we manage our own lives, how we contribute ourselves in solving problems, having joy and happiness.  The right behavior of the truth and reality aspect in life. The Dharma Loka, the dimensional of the right social behavior.
    • Dance category: Javanese Traditional creation/modern.
    • Choreographer: Rahmida Dewi Patmawati ( Madaloka Dance Studio ).

  3. The Challenge:
    • Participants followed the dance choreography shown, which is created by Rahmida Dewi Patmawati.
    • 18 April – 16 May 2021: The dance challenge video is uploaded to the Embassy of The Republic of Indonesia in The Hague YouTube channel  : http://youtu.be/gm23pf_xc3Y
    • 18 April – 16 May 2021: Send your video (see the requirements below).
    • 20 May – 25 May 2021: All videos will be selected by Indonesian dance expertise/judges from Indonesian Arts Institutes. Judges will select incoming videos, based on the requirements mentioned.
    • The judges are:
      1. Dra. Yutta Daruni, M. Hum (Indonesian Arts Institute Yogyakarta/ISI Yogyakarta ).
      2. Maria Damaningsih, S.Sn, M.Ed (Jakarta Institute of Arts/IKJ).
      3. Soemaryatmi, S.Kar, M. Hum (Indonesian Arts Institute Surakarta/ISI Surakarta).
    • 30 May 2021: Selected videos will be published at Embassy of The Republic of Indonesia ( KBRI Den Haag ) Facebook Page.
    • 30 May – 4 June 2021: Public will vote one of their favorite videos.
      Vote one of your favorite video/dancer(s) by clicking the "like" button  on your chosen video at KBRI Den Haag Facebook Page.​
    • 5 June 2021:  The Online Announcement of 3 winners (webinar)

  4. Winners:
    Winners are based on public vote (see Time Planning Registration, point 4).
    • 1st winner gets Gift Certificate ( VVV Cadeaukaart ), value to € 150
    • 2nd winner gets Gift Certificate ( VVV Cadeaukaart ), value to € 125
    • 3rd winner gets Gift Certificate ( VVV Cadeaukaart ), value to € 100

    PLUS
    All winners get a video clip which will be shot by Embassy of The Republic of Indonesia in The Hague. Costumes & styling for the video clips are provided by Madaloka Dance Team.

REQUIREMENTS
General Requirements:

  1. Participants: You live in the Netherlands.
  2. Age category: 18 - 45 years.    
  3. No registration fee.

The Selection
Videos will be selected based on:

  • Body movement: Although you probably don’t know the technique of Indonesian dance, it is important to have the strength, the balance and the understanding of the choreography.
  • Rhythm: The ability of following the rhythm of the music and to keep the balance between the body movement and the music.
  • Feeling: The ability to feel the expression of the choreography.
  • Blocking: Your blocking should move in harmony with the relation with the camera or audience.
  • Performing: Over all, your entire performance has to give a joy and pleasure to the audience. So, smile and dance joyfully!

Technical requirements:

  1. Participants follow the choreography exactly as shown in the video​. You are not allowed to change the choreography.
  2. You can dance alone (solo) or with a group of maximum 3 persons.
  3. Record your video clearly. Whole body shoot, front view.
  4. No editing process. You have to dance from the beginning until the end without any digital editing such as trim, cut, etc.
  5. Clear background, or at least nice and clean background.
  6. Costume:
    • Top: Wear simple blouse, 1 colour, no text, no pictures, just blank.
    • You can wear a simple kebaya top if you have. Kebaya is a traditional Indonesian clothing.
    • Bottom: Wear neat, without text or pictures pants/skirt/legging/batik sarong (fabric).
    • No head accessories.

Homemade video technical requirements:

  1. Use tripod or make sure that your recording device stands still and not shaking.
  2. Landscape format.
  3. Clear picture, we need to see your smile & face expression. Don’t shoot too far away. Whole body appearance.
  4. No editing/cutting/trimming the video.
  5. Audio link: http://bit.ly/dance_audio
  6. Advisable to choose Ratio 16:9.
  7. Say your name clearly at the beginning of your video.
  8. Save it to MP4 format.
  9. Please make sure that you make a good home quality video. The judges will select overall performance, which also supported by the quality of the video.

    • Date of birth.
    • Address.
    • Phone number.
    • Email Address.

Time planning of registration:

  2. Learn and send your video between 18 April 2021 until 16 May 2021.
  3. Videos selected are published on 30 May 2021 at YouTube​Facebook Page KBRI Den Haag ​(Embassy of The Republic of  Indonesia The Hague).
  4. Public will vote by giving a "like" on one of the selected videos at Facebook Page KBRI Den Haag ​(Embassy of The Republic of  Indonesia The Hague)​, from 30 May  – 4 June 2021.
  5. See who win the competition/challenge at the Webinar Dance Challenge on Saturday, 5 June 2021. More information about this Webinar will follow.
