Garuda makes assurance of flights to Australia, the Netherlands

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has made assurance of continued flights to Australia and the Netherlands despite a restriction on the movement of citizens of some countries amid fears of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The decision to continue to operate flights from and to Australia and the Netherlands is part of Garuda Indonesia's support to facilitate the movement of Indonesian citizens from the two countries, as well as the Australian and Dutch citizens keen on returning to their countries from Indonesia," the airlines' President Director, Irfan Setiaputra, noted in a statement here on Friday.

However, Setiaputra revealed that the flight frequency would be adjusted in accordance with the demand.

"The flight frequency to the two countries will be adjusted in line with the passenger demand," he noted.

Garuda Indonesia has ensured bolstering its commitment on safety, including through the application of preventive measures to contain the transmission of COVID-19 during its operations.

"We continue to work on coordination with the authority to ensure that the procedure for handling the pandemic can be implemented optimally," Setiaputra stated.

Garuda Indonesia has operated flights on several routes to the Netherland and Australia: Jakarta-Amsterdam, Jakarta-Sydney, Denpasar-Sydney, Jakarta-Melbourne, Denpasar-Melbourne, Jakarta-Perth, and Denpasar-Perth.

Its subsidiary company low-cost carrier Citilink Indonesia has served the Denpasar-Perth route.

"We call on customers to regularly check the flight schedule, including passengers intent on changing and rerouting their flights. We have flexible regulations in place to accommodate such changes in flight schedules," he added.
